Updates will be provided as more forms and applications are enabled for eSignature.

June 30, 2020 Investment Statements

The Empire Life June 30, 2020 Investment Statements were mailed to customers beginning July 20, 2020. Customers who have signed up for electronic copies of their statements (eStatements) will not receive printed copies. Clients can view their eStatements on MyEmpire as of July 20, 2020.

Advisor copies of all client statements are now available on the Business Centre. The online statements feature allows you to conveniently download statements as Individual (single policy) or Bulk (all policies in a .zip file). For additional information about your customer’s statements, please see Information Circular.

Policy Reminder: Short Term Trading

At Empire Life, a short-term trade occurs when a client purchases units within a particular segregated fund via a deposit or switch and, within 90 days of that transaction, moves or withdraws some or all units from the same fund.

If a client completes a short-term trade, we will send their servicing advisor an email notification explaining the transactions. A second trade of the same nature may result in the client's fund being charged a fee of up to 2%. This fee is paid to the associated fund to help offset the costs of the short term trading activity. We also reserve the right to refuse to process the requested transaction under the same conditions.

Please ensure your clients are aware of this Policy as outlined in their product Information Folder.

ID Card


Provincial Health Cards as Identification

Did you know? FINTRAC, our anti-money laundering regulator, no longer wants the financial sector to accept health cards from any province as AML verification of owner ID.

Going forward, if your client does not have a valid piece of photo ID, such as Driver's License, Passport or Photo ID card in lieu, you will need to use the Dual Method. Note health cards may still be used as proof of age on annuities where permitted provincially.
